A shot of IPL trophy. - BCCIAustralian leg-spinner Adam Zampa has withdrawn from the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) at short notice due to personal reasons.Zampa had been retained by Rajasthan Royals before December's auction in Dubai on a contract worth INR 1.5 crore (approximately AUD$273,000). With a young family at home and a recent hectic schedule, which included playing in the BBL and Australia's white-ball series against India, West Indies, and New Zealand since the conclusion of last year's ODI World Cup in India, Zampa cited personal reasons for his decision.Zampa has previously represented Royal Challengers Bengaluru (then Royal Challengers Bangalore) and the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant in the IPL, amassing 29 wickets across his 20 appearances in the tournament, spread across four different seasons. On March 20, England all-rounder David Willey returned to the UK instead of India after playing the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season nine final with Multan Sultans. The left-arm pacer is part of Lucknow Super Giants.Remember, three Indian players - Mark Wood (LSG), Harry Brook (Delhi Capitals), Jason Roy and Gus Atkinson (Both Kolkata Knight Riders) pulled out of the tournament. The 2024 IPL season is scheduled to commence on Friday, 22nd March, with the defending champions Chennai Super Kings facing off against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. While all 10 teams are completing their final preparations ahead of the tournament, a plethora of injuries and other concerns have resulted in multiple players being ruled out of the 17th edition.
